Raissa Bump is an artist born in the North East who is currently working in San Francisco Bay. She works in collaboration, joining materials and techniques of the clothing and jewelry she is making. Her inspiration stems from the landscape around her and the incredible history of all that is worn on the body. Raissa’s work is fueled by a direct, tactile response to the contrasting materials of metal and fiber, working with there unique qualities such as strength, flexibility, or color. There is an emphasis on structure, or lack of; how much is apparent, or obvious, and how much is concealed.
